Educational programming has long been a primary focus of Globalvision. All of our television specials, documentary films and online projects are specifically designed to incorporate educational components such as study guides, teaching tools, media literacy programs, and information about valuable resources such as scholarships and internships, that benefit students, counselors, librarians and teachers at all levels.
One enduring and unique example of our work with educational institutions is a project called Connected: Careers for the Future, created in partnership with the Ford Foundation and Mellon Foundation. Connected is a a multi-faceted project designed to stimulate interest in international careers among students of color in high schools and colleges. The goal is to create a sense of excitement and hope in young people about a world beyond their borders and explore with them their potential role in it. Although created in 1996, it remains a sharp tool for aiding today's students as they prepare for the future.
Globalvision continues to work in concert with educators and funders across the nation on a variety of ongoing projects. For example, we recently partnered with the Yale University library to make accessible to students, scholars and citizens thousands of hours of videotape and other material derived from our two long-running non-profit series, Souh Africa Now and Rights & Wrongs: Human Rights Television. Our Internet supersite MediaChannel.org has a rich and deep database of educationally-related media and tools available at the click of a mouse. And a wide range of our film and television programming is distributed directly to the educational market through our partnerships with two specialized distributors, Chip Taylor and The Video Project.
With our extensive video library and staff of talented journalists, Globalvision has the programs and tools to complement any curriculum. To take advantage of this rich body of work, or to discuss creating new programming with us, tailored to your special needs, contact our Educational Department at 212.246.0202 extension 3013.
